You ever read someone's blog and think, hey, I bet someday I'll produce a play they direct? No, me neither. But I'm often wrong.
In November of 2002, Suzan-Lori Parks committed to writing a play a day for a year. From Nov 13, 2006 to Nov 12, 2007, the 365 Days/365 Plays National Festival is presenting the work simultaneously across the country, creating the largest collaboration in the history of American theater.
The Public Theater is spearheading the New York City component of the festival, gathering a broad cross-section of over 75 theatre companies, each producing one week's worth of plays. This July 26, 27, and 28, Temporary Theatre Company presents week 37.
The 365 project is creating a community of artists on a scale never seen before. In the spirit of that collaboration and TempCo's mission to support emerging artists, we're presenting our week's plays in the context of an emerging artists salon, bringing together a diverse group of artists, musicians, and performers to present their own work alongside Suzan-Lori Parks' brilliant snapshots.
